Thank you for such a fantastic blog. Where else could one get this kind of info written in such an insightful way? I have a presentation that I am just now working on, and I have been looking for such information.

Thank you for your kind words, and for posting my link to your FaceBook Page too! (I became a "liker" today!) I would add commentluv, but it does not work with Disqus's threaded comment system. If a plugin becomes available that gives the same results as commentluv without adversely affecting the efficiencies of Disqus, I will gladly add it. There is a place for you to leave your blog link so it hyperlinks when you comment. I noticed you did not include your link with your comment. Free giveaways are an interesting list building strategy. They are not my main strategy, but I do have giveaways from time to time. Thank you again, and I look forward to staying in touch.

Nice blog and very intelligent post.... thank goodness you said that BOTH are appropriate but you also give some very good reasons why having control of your own blog is essential.

I'd like to see you use commentluv on your site here so that when we post a comment we get some back-links!

Plus I respectfully suggest that if you want to build your list, you might offer a free giveaway; you certainly have wisdom many of us would like to hear.

Thanks XXX

A good place to start is with the Blogging category here at my blog. The link is here: http://www.indiebusinessblog.com/category/blogging. There are tons of informative articles there about blogging, why it's important and how it has enhanced my life and my business. Go to the link, then scroll to the very first post in the category and read from there. It will be worth your time. As an alternative, get one of the "Dummies" books on blogging. I'm not sure whether there are more than one, but the "Dummies" books are always pretty good.
