What’s Your “Just One Thing”?

by Donna Maria on December 28, 2009

I have been thinking about the goals I set earlier this year, both the ones I met and the ones I didn’t meet. I’m over the latter (and there are a few of them), yet I feel positive, satisfied and energized about the things I accomplished in 2009. I know that some goals were not accomplished because they should never have been set. Maybe they were unrealistic or unnecessary, or diverted focus from things that were really important.

One Red Sphere

Has the same thing happened to you? Would it be a good exercise to share Just One Thing you want to accomplish in 2010 right here in the comments section of this blog? Just one thing? One truly important thing?

I’ve decided to share my Just One Thing here. It’s not the only important goal I am setting at this time in my life. But it is important, and achieving it is necessary in order for me to be as satisfied this time next year as I am right now.

My Just One Thing

I will take at least one 3-day vacation from everything business and family related in 2010.

Seventy-two straight hours of just me. No laptop, no business reading materials, no goal setting or planning. My husband will know where I am, but he will call me only in an emergency, and we will agree in advance on what constitutes an emergency. I know I will have his support and I feel I will have yours too.

I will check in with you periodically here to report progress toward my Just One Thing. Meanwhile, if you have any thoughts, comments or suggestions for how this busy wife, mom and entrepreneur can make this happen, please let me know in the comments.

Question: What’s your “Just One Thing?” Will you share it with us and let us know how you progress? How can we help you accomplish your goal?

My one goal for 2010 is to read the Indie Business blog to help me with my own personal business at home. A friend recommended your site to me, and she told me that your site will benefit me since I am new at starting my business (I paint ornaments, candleholders, trinket boxes, etc.). So far I am very pleased at what I've read and I appreciate all the wonderful resources that you have on your site. My plan is to read your blog on a regular basis to jumpstart my dream!!

  • Hi Caterina!
Happy New Year to you too. :)

Just wanted to tell you about David Wolfe's website. He's really well known in the raw food world. He has a couple sites but I would go here and sign up to be on his list if you'd like to get info from him. I think his info is really amazing and revolutionary:

    http://www.longevitynowprogram.com/immunitynow....

I've been listening to a lot of talks of people who have been interviewing him and he is just loaded with information about using certain herbs and foods to help with lots of ailments including auto-immune diseases.

I had Grave's Disease for 5 years and now am in remission. I did a lot of research and took a holistic approach and now my thyroid numbers have been normal for over 2 years.

I'm now interested in keeping my immune system strong and I'm going to look into a lot of the stuff that David Wolfe recommends.
Just thought you may be interested as well.
    Best of luck!

    Hi there Gina:)

I actually have met with David as he went to a "friends" house a few months ago to have a little class.....I love raw foods and my diet is about 70% raw at the moment....Getting meat out of the diet is hard for me!( even thought the organic free range is better than the rest:)

Great job for the Graves! Did you do alot of cruciferous veggies? Graves seems to be easier to heal holisticlly than the hashi.....Hows your heart now? Hawthorne berries are a great preventative and that good ole' cayenne pepper!:)

Its the hashis that got me into creating my 100% organic product line...realizing the need for products without any toxins!
  • Yes, Caterina, it's hard for me to get off meat too, but I'm eating a lot less of it ( I mainly eat free range chix- it's just so easy to make and eat. I want to get off of meat myself. I feel like to eat vegetarian, it's another full time job! But guess I have to change my thoughts :).

So cool you met David Wolfe...........I eat some raw meals daily. I even bought a raw cookbook recently. :)

Yes, I did and do eat a lot of cruciferous veggies. I also put a pinch of cayenne pepper in my tea sometime.
My heart is fine - as far as I know anyway :). I had a stress test the first year I had grave's and I get an echo cardio gram done yearly. My GP actually diagnosed herself with grave's after she diagnosed me so she's really on top of the research.

I started my company as well after my diagnosis even though I was already into Aromatherapy prior to that for anxiety.

    So good to meet you.
Warmest wishes on your health-full path :).

I see my homeopathic doctor about every 3-4 months as well and get a remedy from him as well

I will take 20 minutes out of my busy weekdays for a brisk walk to ease stress and improve my health. This is doable. No more excuses!
  • I'll be doing the same, Maggie! I'll report in now and then and try to get some more inspiration from you. No More Excuses! Love it!
  • Hi dM! I like your 'Just One Thing'. I just wrote a blog post on using essential oils to set a specific intention (especially for the new year). I shared there that my intention or 'Just One Thing' is to get to truly know myself and what makes me feel vibrantly alive!
    Thanks for sharing. :)
  • Gina: I love it! Can you customize a blend for me and I can order it? Do you do that sort of thing?
  • Hi dM,
Yes, I do that sort of thing :).
I'll email you my questionnaire for you to fill out at your convenience.
    Thanks!
