Prayer of the Week: Health and Strength

There are many variables when it comes to small business. We can plan for a lot of them -- marketing, sales, website design, product launches. But one thing we really can't plan is how our health will hold up. And if there's one thing that can destroy even the most successful small business, it's the deterioration of the health of the owner or someone in the family.

That's my daughter, Vanessa, who broke her arm falling off her scooter last week. While my physical health was not affected, my mental and emotional mindset was temporarily destroyed. Additionally, of course, I got way behind on some projects.

I am thankful that her injury was not more serious, that she's not in any pain and that we have a good pediatrician who referred us to the proper x-ray facility, a talented pediatric bone specialist and a nurse who gently wrapped my daughter's arm in a pretty pink cast.

My prayer this week is that all of us will have the presence of mind to be as healthy and strong as we possibly can, and to handle unexpected health crises as they occur.

It's true that we're all dealt a set of unchangeable cards when we come into this world. Even so, many things are within our control. No matter what, we can all do something to maintain our health or even improve it in many cases by making better food choices and incorporating daily movement appropriate for our age, taste and health status.

For those small business owners who have inadequate (or no) health insurance, my prayer is that that will change, and in the meantime, for caring doctors who provide quality care at a discount. I pray that they will have family members and friends who will be helpful and compassionate even when they don't feel like it.

"I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul." 3 John 1:2

What Do You Think?

Have you been challenged with health issues as a small business owner? I can't seem to make it to the gym as much as I should, but I guess this post is reminding me to change that. If you have a spiritual text of any kind or saying that has to do with health and well being, please share it in the comments section below.

Poor Baby, I know she felt the physical pain, and is probably back to her usual routine albeit with one arm :) but I can only imagine your anguish as mama. I feel all kinds of pain for my kids, even the imagination of potential pain they may encounter makes ache. Lord hep me not to be such a neurotic mum :)

Vanessa is beautiful! I love having three daughters. It is because of my daughters that I am the person I am today and that I created my passions into a business. My daughters have been some of my greatest teachers in finding the truth of who I Am.

One scripture that came to mind for me when reading this can encompass health, stress and over rundownness of our body, mind and spirit

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matt 11:28-30
God can do anything and everything for us. We have to trust and surrender.

I know that your daughter's arm will be healed and you will be back to your work in time.

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes for my daughter. She's at school today so hopefully, she'll follow my instructions and stick to coloring while everyone else is on the monkey bars!

Hi Donna Maria,

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. I will be praying for your daughter and your family.

I have been a long time observer of your wonderful website and blog. I am starting up a business soon, but will not have anything to sell for a few months. I was wondering if you still offer "Indie Business Membership" to people trying to get started up, but do not have the need for insurance.

Thanks so much!
Greta =D

Well wishes and warm thoughts!
