Oprah “Next TV Star” Bloopers

by Donna Maria

Because Oprah and her fans need a fresh, fun look at the amazing family-run businesses making one-of-a-kind artisan products, I decided to pitch that show idea to Oprah as part of “Oprah’s Search For The Next TV Star”. The video has been edited and you can vote and leave a comment at Oprah’s site here!Once the video edited, we’ll post it to her site and you’ll be able to vote for us. (Please vote for us!) In the meantime, yesterday’s recording session produced blooper-worthy segments that I just had to share with you. It may take a bit for this high resolution video to load, but it’s worth it! Warning: Be prepared to laugh, and just in case you’re new to my blog and don’t know me, be warned that I really put myself out there in a “real deal” sorta way.

If you can’t see this video, click here to watch on YouTube.

Feel free to grab the embed code by clicking the “Embed” drop down in the upper right corner of the player at the end of the video, and share the fun with your blog readers — if you dare!!

If you have an idea for a show, you can pitch it to Oprah too! The deadline is June 3026. Here are the details!

Question: I’m afraid to ask.

Great! We all need others to encourage us to do things we might not otherwise try. Go for it, I say! Go for it!

I needed that! Thanks for a good belly laugh and thanks for showing us we CAN all do it. Your video's are always so well done – it's good to know you have to go through the blooper stage too!

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

A video for me is like 90% bloopers, 10% arguably useful. It's nice to be able to record over (and over and over …) I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Your smile always makes me smile, so picturing you laughing and smiling over this just makes me happy. Oh, and also you in pink Trixie goggles. That makes me happy too.

That was good!! I'm gonna share! Are you sure you don't want to send this to Oprah??? LOL!! J/K!!!

What a way to start my morning. Love it!

    LOL!!! What a hoot!

I was going to do a video to submit until I read the fine print about having to compete, in reality show fashion, for 6 weeks. While it would be nice to have my 'Own' show, I can't afford to be gone for 6 weeks, if I had been chosen to compete.

You have my vote dM! Good Luck!!

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

Glad to share the morning with you, Denise. Thanks for laughing with me.

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

I'm glad you laughed, and thanks for being here to share the fun. On balance, I considered six week to be a small price to pay if it helps me achieve the goal of bringing more visibility to the amazing Indies I serve! (But you're right — on the very off chance I get picked, I'll be standing here going, “Six weeks! How will I ever do that?” And my husband will be saying that, and then some!!)

Thanks for sharing Ann! We are going to append as many bloopers to the end of the pitch as we can, and still meet the 3 minute time limit. It's going to be a squeeze but I think we'll get in a few of them.

    This is great!
I love bloopers-I always look for them on the movie dvd's I rent.
Good luck dM and can't wait to see your video and vote!

  • http://www.cactusandivy.com Lisa M. Rodgers

I agree completely dM, just would not have worked for me since I wear all the hats in my business. There wouldn't be anyone available to “mind the shop”. :D

    Good luck!

I think you should send the blooper reel in. :) (Love the pic of the great Jennifer Kirkwood on your blog too…small world)

  • Heather A. Howell

dM – you are the best! Girl I sure love you and needed to laugh. Thank you, can't wait for more and YES, you have to put bloopers are on the end of Oprah's submission. Beautiful video clip of being real!!

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

Thanks! I have no idea whether “real” is what Oprah's looking for, but I knew it would make my blog readers laugh and that makes it all worthwhile.

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

We're going to add as many bloopers as we can fit at the end of the video, and stay under Oprah's 3-minute limit.

  • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

Thanks, Gina! I'm really not expecting to win, but you never know what can happen. Even if I'm not selected, good things have happened because it made people smile. That's what's most important to me.

  • Jcoles

Donna! The blooper reel is the funniest thing I have seen in a long long time! (I now have milk coming out of my nose – LOL!) Oprah will do well to chose you as a host of a new show! Good luck!

  • Ann

Oprah better choose you….that was great ….and the blooper segment was a hoot!

    • http://www.indiebusinessblog.com Donna Maria Coles Johnson

Well, Ann, she didn’t choose me, but I sure had fun! Thanks for watching!
